Last month, Ed and I attended the opening of the Altered State: Marijuana in California exhibit at the Oakland Museum of California. I am so incredibly elated that one of my images was selected for inclusion in this landmark exhibition. The opening was nothing short of phenomenal. The attendance was rich with diversity on all fronts. I finally had the opportunity to meet Ophelia of StockPot Images in person, I met the amazing team that orchestrated this groundbreaking event, and inspiring names in the cannabis community such as Ed Rosenthal, Sharon Letts and Steve Danks. Here are a few images from the event:
I was unaware of Lynn Johnson's work until I thumbed through National Geographic's now well-known "Weed" issue published this past June. I remember feeling an overwhelming connection with her images while looking over the pages. One photograph in particular- a little girl on a swing set surrounded by a garden, a cannabis plant amongst the greenery- pulled at my heartstrings. Every once in awhile I revisit these images online. I find her incredibly inspiring.
